Discipleship Camp 2011

9 campers were able to join the PYBC Discipleship Camp in Ken Svey, Phnom Penh last April 11-13. The theme "Loving God" was timely for the newly-baptized believers.

It's time to practice sharing the Gospel!

with fellow missionaries in Cambodia...

It was also a good time for fun and fellowship.
The youth from Sisophon gained new Khmer and Filipino friends.
Please pray for them to use the things they have learned in the camp.
To God be all the glory!

Our First Baptism

After a year of labor, God blessed us with these wonderful new believers who are willing to grow more in the faith. We praise and thank God for the first 11 believers who obediently followed Jesus in water baptism last March 8.

What a blessing  to personally see how God works in the lives of these youth. Please help pray that we would reach out to their families as well.

To our friends and fellow laborers who prayed for us, thank you very much. It is our joy to teach them to love Jesus more and more.

Thank you once again for being a part of God's ministry here in Svey Sisophon.

January-February News

Our regular routine resumed after we had our Christmas and New Year break.
We started our regular lunch fellowship every Sunday after the worship service. This is a good time for us to bond with everyone as we get to help each other in the food preparation and cleaning-up afterwards.

The youth also had an outdoor fellowship at Chan Sa’s place and we’re praying that we could have a regular schedule to visit each youth’s place.

We were blessed to have witnessed the baptism of Preah Yessu Baptist Church, Poipet. This activity is indeed timely since we planned to have our very first baptism in March.  This also gave our youth a chance for fun and fellowship with friends from Poipet.

Post Hearts’ Day Special, February 20.
We used this opportunity to teach our Khmer youth about love and what the Bible has to say about it. We presented some verses and gave them time for questions and discussion.

Please pray for us..

Hello friends and prayer partners!

It's almost a year since God allowed us to start His work here in Svey, Sisophon, Cambodia. God has been so faithful and we would like to share our joy as the ministry grows. We hope to keep you updated with our ministries and other activities through this blog. Please continue to pray for us.

Thank you very much.

Christmas 2010

Our Christmas celebration was full of fun and fellowship. The children in our village outreach were given special gifts. A special program was held at a nearby military camp. In our church and English students’ party, the youth sang Christmas carols and our Sunday school children presented a short play. Pastor Arturo Bastes, our speaker, clearly explained the Good News.

After all the parties, the missionaries were blessed to have their break. The Nierrases spent some time in Bavet, Cambodia. They were able to attend Cambodia’s missionaries’ retreat. Rhoda enjoyed her time with her previous co-labourers in the Lord in Bangkok and also went to a mission trip in Chang Mai, Thailand while Esil went home to the Philippines.  Thank you for all your prayers and support. Please continue to pray for our visa needs (Nierras Family and Rhoda). To God be the glory!

In Good Times...and bad

September had been a month full of excitement and fun-filled activities. More students are now faithfully attending our Sunday morning worship service and our afternoon youth fellowship as well. We all enjoyed two church outings as we celebrated Angel and Esil’s birthday. Those were good chances to bond with the new believers. They were able to witness how we Christians have our joy and fellowship.
We now continue visiting students’ houses. We found the strategy of asking family prayer requests and letting them hear us call on God during visitations to be very effective.

Despite the thrill for souls saved and evident spiritual growth of new believers, we are also facing a dilemma that makes our hearts sad. We understand that the enemy is doing his best to hinder God’s work here in Sisophon. We trust that God has a purpose as He allows difficult circumstances to come about.

The team also had a break on the third week of October. When we came back, we were greeted with another bad news. This rainy season, Cambodia was hit by floods and it affected the village where we teach children every Wednesday. We are now helping them in little ways we can, trusting God to be in control of the situation.

We thank you for always including us in your prayers.
Please continue to pray for us.

..and the reaping continues

.
We praise God for His faithfulness this past two months.
We are blessed to have Pastor Uly Marino with us, glad that he was able to see the ministry here. Our Khmer brethren, especially the new Christians, were happy to meet him too.

yummy treat...

We thank you, First Filipino Baptist Church, Bayonne, New Jersey for your love and generosity for God’s work here in Svey Sisophon. We also learned that the Marino family also has a big role in this mission work. We are grateful to our God for your lives. Thank You very much!

Also, Rhoda had a chance to go home for her sister’s wedding. We praise God for His provision and we thank friends who helped pray for her trip. She was also able to report about God’s work here in some churches she was able to visit.

Recently, we had our first Youth Fellowship. 7 teens attended last Sunday afternoon, August 29. We encouraged each of them to bring just one friend next time.

LIFE CAMP

August 10-13 –  We had our LIFE Camp at Angkor City Hotel, Siem Reap. 39 delegates attended from Svey Sisophon. Among the 15 unbelievers with us, 10 decided to receive Jesus. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and friendship with other Khmer believers from other churches in Cambodia. Thank you for those who prayed and sponsored for some of the campers. We really had a great time!
